Welcome to Week 7!
Loving God, we thank you for the gift of family, and especially the gift of our fathers. We ask you to bless all fathers as they strive to serve you and to love, support, and care for their families. Be with our fathers as they work to be true examples of discipleship to our families. Amen.
Dear Friends,
Tomorrow we celebrate the beginning of spring, characterised by longer sunny days, cool nights, new blooms and new life. This weekend we also celebrate the gift of our Fathers. Tomorrow we will be sharing a special breakfast together outside our new building area, with Evoke Bakery coffee cart and pastry treats. We will also be participating in a Prayer Celebration, hosted by Kindergarten, celebrating Father's Day to all fathers here in Canberra, in other places, and in our hearts. Thank you to all our fathers and significant father figures in our lives who nurture, care, generously give of themselves and love us unconditionally every day. Next week we will share in the newsletter the photo presentation of our fathers and special father figures from the Prayer Celebration.
Week 8 Learning Journeys
A staple of our PYP school is the Term 3 Learning Journeys, something we have not been able to celebrate together since 2019! This involves students taking parents and carers on a visit to their classrooms before or after school, next Tuesday and Thursday. Although there are many different approaches to planning for learning journeys, generally all iterations have elements of student voice, choice and ownership. This wonderful community event allows our students to hold control over the showcasing of their learning. The students will communicate to you, their parents/carers, what they want to share with you during this time together.
- show me something you are proud of
- show me something you havepersevered withh
- what approaches to learning are you developing?
- what learner profiles are your strengths/areas for growth?
Tournament of Minds Challenges
At Holy Trinity, we continually witness the remarkable capabilities of our learners. This past weekend was no exception, as 28 learners from Years 5 & 6 showcased their willingness to embrace challenges, collaborate effectively, and share their unique talents with the broader community during the Tournament of Minds challenges. Over six weeks, our learners worked in groups of seven as they dedicated themselves to crafting a response to a complex challenge in one of four disciplines ranging from Language Literature and Social Sciences to The Arts and STEM. This dedication was evident in their presentations at the Australian National University. All four teams deserve recognition for their hard work, and we were especially thrilled for our Language Literature and STEM teams, who will advance to the ACT Regional finals. We eagerly look forward to their next achievements and remain immensely proud of each participant. A HUGE thank you to Tom O'Rourke and Prue Sheargold who have spent many hours out of school time helping prepare the students for this great event.

Catholic Education Recognitions Awards

This year, Catholic Education reignited their Recognition Awards Ceremony. One of the categories was for Parent/Carer Volunteers. Our school nominated Lisa Bauer for this, and for those of you who have known Lisa for a small time, or for the many years her family have been a part of our school community, you will know why she was successful in receiving this award, from many nominations across our archdiocese. Lisa is a selfless and tireless advocate for the Holy Trinity community, often working behind the scenes and avoiding the limelight or the recognition she deserves. Lisa coordinated the school fete in 2018, which was no small task, and has been a member of the P&F for many years, with last year taking on the Vice President role. She has coordinated fund raising and community engagement events, always with a smile and a laugh, and making sure no one is left out. Lisa welcomes new parents to the school warmly, and always steps up to ensure a community event or activity is successfully run. Lisa takes on feedback from parents and carers and provides ample opportunities for people to feel connected to, and involved with, the school. She has been a huge asset to Holy Trinity over many years and she and her will be greatly missed when Chloe finishes Year 6 at the end of this year. Congratulations and thank you Lisa!
