Opening Message from P&F President
Dear Families,
Welcome to Term 2 Week 5!
It’s not what we have in life,
But who we have in our lives that matters.
(Author unknown)
A huge thank you to our wonderful teachers and staff
A really big thank you and acknowledgement to Mrs Brearley and all her wonderful staff for making this year the best it can be and remaining committed to our children’s learning. I’m sure you’ll all agree our children are loving being back at school! As parents and carers, we cannot thank you enough, knowing you are also going through this crazy time with your own families. The dedication and professionalism you have demonstrated has not gone unnoticed and we are all so proud to be a part of this school and are so very grateful for all you do.
Mother’s Day drive by stall
Thank you Mark Bauer and Mark Bullock for the Mother’s Day stall drive by, and organising all the volunteer Dads. It was such a lovely thing to see the excited children driving through to pick up their gifts. I think the best part though was seeing Mrs Brearley almost dive into each car to see the children! I believe there are a number of gifts left, so if you were not able to visit our drive by stall, please let me know and I’ll organise a gift for you.
Uniform Shop
Another big thank you to the wonderful Cheryl and all her equally wonderful volunteers that have continued to get us all uniforms this year and keep us up to date with opening hours and delivery times and procedures.
Who we are
Just a reminder of some of the volunteers this year.

If anyone is interested in being the Communications Coordinator or Fete Coordinator, please get in touch! I would like the Communication’s Coordinator to basically keep track of what information the P&F are sending out to families. To also make sure we aren’t doubling up on information and that we have consistent messaging.
OUR FOCUS THIS YEAR
It’s all about Community and Giving! During these tough and unfamiliar times, the P&F would like to offer whatever activities and events we can and fund them from our current monies on hand. We will not be asking families to do any fundraising this year. This is the time we all come together and offer support without asking for anything in return. We all know this will be temporary, but what we don’t know is when it will end.
The P&F have planned a revised calendar with a couple of events/activities. They may need to be cancelled or delayed further, but we will make a start and get some things prepared, just in case we can in fact hold them. All events/activities will be at no cost to families. We will organise donation buckets so if you can and want to, donations will be thankfully received but certainly not expected. See the P&F Calendar below for information.
We also remain committed to supporting our charities this year. Our local charity is L’Arche who offers supported living in community households together with a rich social and cultural life, for adults living with intellectual disability. Our International charity is a sponsor child, Lydia, through Global School Partners.
2020 P&F Calendar
We have cancelled all P&F activities for Term 2.
All dates will need to be confirmed, but we will work towards them.
Some events/activities may need to be cancelled given the current environment. For example, I have left the Revue in for Term 3, but it may have to be moved to Term 4.
There will be no charge to families for any event/activity. Donations will be gratefully received, but not expected. This includes the Walkathon and Colour Run, no sponsorship this year, just a fun day without the fundraising.

School Directory and Business Directory
We are going online! This way, families will have control over their details and will be able to include any business details too. More on this to come soon. Thanks to Jenny V for organising.
Planning is underway for a secret and fun Christmas themed craft event for kids (and adults) in Term 4! If you are a sewer or crafter or keen to start a new, relaxing hobby to help make our vision come to life, please contact johamilton2007@gmail.com; 0407 002 513.
No experience necessary on the craft front - novices welcome.
P.S. also on our radar to start creating home made product for fete stall next year!
Fete Update
The date is locked in for Saturday 20 March 2021.
Thanks to Kelly O’Brien who is working to finalise our fete logo!
We are still seeking a Fete Coordinator. Please contact me if you think this is something you are interested in.
Act of kindness
You might remember my last Newsletter contribution I asked for people to contact me if you were available to help others in our school community. This may be to help pick up some groceries, drop off a script at the Chemist, or be available for a friendly phone call. After some technical issues, I can’t get this on SZapp I’m sorry. If you are in need of anything at all, please feel free to contact either Carmela on 0402 970 357 or Cath on 0413 319 899.
Casserole Bank
Please don’t forget we have a Casserole Bank for families in our community in need. Lisa Bauer leads a group of over 20 parents who have cooked meals and treats to share. Please reach out if you are in need of some meals to take a little pressure off, or reach out if you know a family that we could assist.
Thanks so much everyone. Take care, stay safe and I hope to see you all soon.

Easter Raffle
On Friday we had our annual Easter Egg Raffle as we were not able to fundraise for the raffle this year, each student from the ELC to Year 6 was entered into the draw. We had over 20 prizes to be won. Thank you to our Year 3/4 families for donating the eggs!
Congratulations to Matthew Graham who won first place!

Religious Education Website - Transfiguration Parish
Although we are no longer Remote Learning, the “Parish of Transfiguration” website is still being updated weekly and features the Sunday Gospel of the coming week, as well as reflection questions, and other resources and ideas for families who want to grow in faith together. This week, the focus is on Pentecost. We hope the site will be engaging and enriching for the families in our communities of Holy Trinity and Saints Peter and Paul.
You will also find, on the website, information from our Parish, including the bulletin and Prayers of Intercession to share at home, as well as a video that Fr John has uploaded for our families. The Parish Youth Ministers, Maddie and Grace have added content to the site also, so I encourage you to take a look.
Below is a link to the site for this week.

Dear families,
Next week we observe Reconciliation Week. We are intentional in embedding aboriginal perspectives in all we do, but in celebrating and recognising this important week, we welcome Larry Brandy, an Aboriginal Story-teller to the ELC to visit all classes and Adam Shipp, who will teach the children about traditional bush tucker and help establish our bush tucker garden.
Today Larry Brandy visited the Rock Wallaby class, and ABC news took footage of Larry story-telling with the children. This will be aired on ABC 7pm news in the coming days.
This Saturday the ELC will be having a targeted working bee, assembling the new cubby house. Thank you to the volunteers who have already confirmed their help. Assembling of the cubby will begin at 10am.
In Week 8, the ELC will host face-to-face learning conferences with parents. The booking link will be sent out to families (via Szapp and Seesaw) next week. BSC/ASC can provide care for your preschool child if necessary to enable parents to attend.
Thank you to families who are continuing to observe physically distancing measures when arriving at or leaving the ELC. Please continue to encourage thorough handwashing procedures with your child when arriving at school (and at home too) to ensure good handwashing practices are reinforced.
After School Care has a new Winter menu, if you would like to make any suggestions to the menu, please contact our ASC Coordinator Sarah James. sarah.james@cg.catholic.edu.au
The teachers are calling out for more loose parts to support open-ended play and creativity. If you have access to the following materials we would love the donations:
- old steering wheels
- PVC piping
- Plastic or wooden spools (large and small)
- wood off-cuts
- pine cones
- shells
- bamboo poles
- tree cookies
- artificial grass off-cuts
- pebbles
- roof guttering
- ropes
- tarps

Next week Holy Trinity will be recognising Reconciliation week by starting the day with the Aboriginal Our Father sung by Mrs Brearley. It will then be followed with 5/6 Red students reading reflective prayers that celebrate our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, culture and the ongoing contributions they make to Australian society. Classes will participate in activities including Aboriginal Story time, arts and crafts including dot painting, decorating stones, creating totems. They will look into the Ngunnawal language and play traditional sports from the Yulunga Games.
5/6 are currently looking at weather events and how they happen. Next week they will inquire into the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultural stories that provide evidence of geological events happening.

It has been so wonderful to have our senses tantilised by the re-opening of our canteen.
If you haven't checked out the delicious treats available, please go to QKR!
Thanks to everyone who has signed up to help in the tuck shop so far. We still have spaces available so if you are able to assist please click this link.

In an effort to cut down on the waste the tuck shop produces, we are continuing with the use of metal cutlery and will have a return tray set up for kids to return their items after lunch. Most food will come in paper bags and any meals will be packaged in compostable biocane products with a recyclable lid. These too can now be returned to the tuckshop.
Please remember orders need to be in by 830am and for the remainder of Term 2, there won't be any opening time at lunch for the kids to purchase directly from the tuck shop. We hope to bring this back in Term 3.
