Dear Friends,
This weekend our Parish celebrates our Feast of the Transfiguration. 29 years ago, the parishes of Holy Trinity and Sts Peter and Paul Garran amalgamated to create the Transfiguration Parish, North Woden. The original transfiguration event is the guidepost for all we are and do as a Parish school: Jesus Christ, shining on top of Mt Tabor, in His glory to Sts Peter, James and John, gave them a vision that would continue to strengthen their faith. In April, I had the privilege of visiting Mt Tabor, travelling up winding roads to the majestic summit. This mountain was certainly an incredible setting, overlooking lush countryside and green farming. On Mt Tabor our group celebrated Mass, where Fr Richard played the hymn, "On Holy Ground', and took off his shoes to signify this. As a member of our transfiguration community, this certainly was a very moving part of the pilgrimage to the Holy Land for me personally.
It will be wonderful tomorrow to be able to share our Parish feast day with the St Peter and Paul community, who will be visiting from 9:30am. During the morning we will share activities relating to our feast day, share a sausage sizzle lunch and then celebrate Mass together at 12pm. A big thank you to Emily Capper for all the organisation of tomorrow and to our parent volunteers for assisting with the BBQ lunch.
On Monday, 3 Red shared with us their current learnings with a Unit of Inquiry on our How We Express Ourselves, with the Central Idea "Different Forms of Expression Convey Uniqueness." Within this unit, 3 Red have had the opportunity to explore various art forms and discover their power to communicate how each of us is special and unique. This sharing of learning included drama performances, insights from the Bible, photo art work and self expression through music.
This term we begin planning for staffing allocations and classes preparing for 2024. To help with staffing needs, could I please ask that families planning to leave Holy Trinity at the end of this year, (other than our Year 6 students), please fill in the form below:

Holy Trinity SCHOOL COMMUNITY SURVEY
Thank you to those parents who took part in focus group research towards the end of last term. All parents/carers will be able to contribute their views via the confidential online survey which will be issued by Landscape Research mid next week. Please keep an eye out for it in your inbox and check your junk mail if you have not received your unique survey link by the end of next week.
You may wish to take the opportunity to confirm with the school that we have up to date email addresses for all parents/carers in your household. Please note, while you are issued a unique link by the research firm, the survey is entirely anonymous and the school will not know who has participated. We encourage your honest and constructive feedback which will be de-identified for the purpose of reporting.
First Eucharist Home Groups
The First Eucharist books and Leader’s booklet should be ready to take home today. Students who are not in a home group will not receive a book until their child is registered and in a home group.
As a community, we pray for the students and families as they begin their preparation to receive the Body and Blood of Christ at the table of the Lord.
Feast Day of Mary MacKillop
On Monday 7th August, we will celebrate the Feast Day of Mary MacKillop with a prayer celebration lead by 3W. All members of the community are warmly invited.
Feast of the Transfiguration - TOMORROW

On Friday last week, Year 4 students invited their families and other classes to share their Maths inquiry. The students were asked to pose a question they were interested in, and share their process for solving these questions mathematically. The questions were varied and informative, from how much sanitiser would a school use in one year to what is the best angle and phone to take the perfect selfie.

Jamie Perlman Cup
On Monday the 1st of August, a group of 9 boys represented Holy Trinity in the Year 3/4 Jamie Perlman Cup. The boys lead by parent coach Peter Andruska did not lose a match for the day. Competing against other schools in the South/Weston area, the boys drew their first game, before winning easily in their next two. In the final, the score was tied 12 all at 3/4 time, but to the credit of the team, they came away with a 20-12 victory.
The team now progresses to the finals series in Term Four where they will compete against the best schools in Canberra North.
The boys who made up this team on the day were:
Harry Mc, Henry B, George H, Valerios K, Ethan A, Oliver McE, Joseph L, Mitch W, Connor P.
A HUGE thank you to Peter and Miss Meany who coached and managed the team.
