" May the Lord be generous in increasing your love and make you love one another and the whole human race as much as we love you. " (1 Thess 3:12-4:2)
Dear Friends,
In some ways it is hard to believe that we are coming to the end of another successful year at Holy Trinity. Thank you to all in our community who give of their time, their skills and themselves to help the students, staff and families in our care. A particular thank you to all parents who have volunteered through the P and F and rosters, School Board or in the classroom to help throughout 2018. We have many things to be thankful for, expecially being a part of this giving and caring community at both Holy Trinity School and Parish.
Last week you would have received our Term 4 edition of 'Inspiring Connections', celebrating all the wonderful learning that has happened in our PYP framework, especially with the Year 5 and 6 Exhibition. Yesterday you would have also received your School Year Book showcasing the wonderful achievements of 2018 at Holy Trinity. I sincerely thank all the staff and especially Maria Gagetti, for all their input into both publications.
We have spent over the last few weeks considerable time formuating 2019 classes, taking into account many elements including student friendship choices, parents requests and needs of each individual student. Yesterday afternoon we invited new teaching staff for 2019 to meet with current ELC and school teaching staff to discuss their class groupings for 2019. Over the last week we have had a couple of staffing changes- congratulations to Lloyd Scroope who has accepted a teaching position at St Gregory's Queanbeyan and to Leanne Thomas, our music teacher, who has accepted a full-time position at St Jude's. We welcome Tiffany Fletcher as our new music teacher, who has spent an extensive amout of time with the ANU Music Engagement program. Another change has been in the increase of enrolments we have had in Kindergarten for 2019. We have also had a few students leave in the 5 /6 area, so our extra class will now be in Kindergarten, not 5 /6 as previously announced. The following is our teaching staff for 2019 and their allocated class groups:

Students will be given an opportunity next Tuesday afternoon to meet in their new classrooms with their 2019 teacher. Class lists will then be emailed to all families at the end of next week. We look forward to sharing with you our Christmas Concert tomorrow night and I thank the staff, especially Kirsty Everding, for all the organisation of this. There will be opportunity at both concerts to purchase the Holy Trinity cookbook, especially if you are looking for a wonderful Christmas present. Thank you also to the P & F for catering the BBQ following the evening concert. As the hall will be set up for the concert on Friday morning, we will be presenting our final awards for the year out on lines at 9am. (This is of couse, weather permitting). Please also note that on Friday all Primary School reports will be sent home. Any child absent tomorrow will have their school report posted tomorrow afternoon. I will be emailing home the 2019 fee schedule as outlined in the Week 7 newsletter today.
Please keep the Cannell (Avalon and Adler) family in your prayers as Annette's mother has recently passed away.
With every best wish for a holy and peace-filled week ahead with your beautiful families,
Philippa

Term 4 is rolling to a close and well, we can certainly say, Wow, what a year.
It has been a terrific year for our P&F – both in terms of finances, but most importantly in terms of building our community. Throughout this year, I have been humbled and privileged to be part of such an amazing and caring community which lives out our Catholic values through generously giving of themselves and their talents to help build and support our school.
This is always a bittersweet time of the year as we say farewell to our year 6 students – we wish them well in their future endeavours and look forward to hearing their stories as they go towards their futures. We also farewell a number of our year 6 parents – can I say, on behalf of the whole P&F and our community, a very sincere Thank You for your contribution and support over the years.
A lovely tradition here at Holy Trinity is that the year 5 parents put on a lunch for the parents and students following graduation mass. Please get in contact with your year coordinator to let them know how you are able to help.
It was also part of my privilege to welcome our new kindergarten parents at the Kinder Orientation morning. It was wonderful to be able to talk about all that we as a small community achieve together, and to welcome so many new faces to our ranks.
We held out P&F AGM last Wednesday the 5th December. Thank you to all those valuable volunteers who have nominated to be part of the P&F for 2019. All nominations were elected unopposed. The full list is below. We also farewelled and thanked Shane Wright for many years of dedicated service to the Assistant Treasure role, and to Rob Shiner – BBQ Master and Kofta King! Thank you both for your service to our school – you will be missed!
As I mentioned in previous correspondence, the President role is now vacant. I have stepped down following 2 years as P&F president, 5 years on the school board – 7 years in total. It is time for new ideas and a fresh perspective! – Please get in touch if you are interested – it is a lovely role that allows you to touch so many parts of our beautiful school community and you are supported by a fantastic group of parents on the P&F committee. The commitment is only 3-4 hours per month on average, but it is wonderfully rewarding.
We are having our traditional Christmas BBQ on Friday night – this year the P&F are covering all the costs as an acknowledgement and thank you to our terrific community. Please RSVP so we know how many sausages to cook!!
In true Holy Trinity style, we are also very busy planning for 2019. I am delighted to announce that Family Camp will be revived in 2019 – and the amazing Jen Graham has already started the planning for the family favourite Movie Night!
Thank you all for your support & wishing you all a happy and peaceful Christmas

Sacrament of First Reconciliation
Congratulations to the students who celebrated the sacrament of First Reconciliation Tuesday 4 December. The students were reverent and the Sacrament was a very prayerful celebration for our Parish Community.
Christmas Concert- TOMORROW
Don’t forget that students are asked to be at school by 5pm for a 5:30pm start. The students that have volunteered to be part of the pre- entertainment need to be at school by 4:45pm. We can’t wait to celebrate this time of year with you all.
Graduation- Wednesday 19 December
Everyone is warmly invited to our Graduation Mass next Wednesday at 12pm. The Year 6 students and their parents will celebrate with lunch afterwards, in the Parish Centre, hosted by Year 5 parents. Thank you to all the Year 5 parents that have already volunteered to set up, clean or provide food for this lunch. If you haven’t already please get in contact with Penny O’Connell at theocs@westnet.com.au.
Thank you
Thank you to the parent community that were able to attend our Thanksgiving mass. Regardless if you were able to attend, we give thanks to all our generous volunteers that have helped and supported the school throughout 2018. On a personal note, I would like to thank you all for your support you have given me over the last 10 years. It has been a privilege to be part of the Holy Trinity family.
We also give thanks for those students, staff and families who are leaving our Holy Trinity Community to begin the next chapter in their lives, all continuing to grow in faith, hope and love. We thank God for the time they have spent at Holy Trinity and bless them as they follow their chosen path.
Have a safe and happy Christmas!

Reports
Semester Two reports will soon be sent home with children. The Ground Parrot and Rock Wallaby classes will receive their reports tomorrow (Friday), the Black Cockatoos on Monday. The 'children’s books' will also be sent home on Monday. The 'children’s books' are a reflection of your child’s learning and their reflections across the year and support the written report. If you would like an interview with your child's teacher after you have received the report, please contact them via email.
Stay and Play
Pre-preschoolers and their parents, grandparents and carers all very welcome. Next Wednesday will be the final Stay and Play for the year, and will include a jumping castle and usual fun play activities.
Tea Towels
If you missed out on ordering a 2018 ELC tea towel there are extra tea towels available from the ELC office. $15 each or 3 for $40 or 5 for $60. They are a high quality tea towel featuring every preschooler and they make a great Christmas gift for family.
Thank you to everyone who returned their library books this week. I still have 223 books missing, so please send back any books with the HT barcode ASAP.
Next week the library is closed as I will be doing a stocktake and cull of the Early Fiction books in our library.
Over the year I have been lucky enough to have the lovely Mrs Schofield and Mrs Williams volunteer their services in the library each week. They both help out for two hours each week and we love having them. Thank you ladies.
Thank you also to Mrs Ulmer who worked in the library with me for 5 hours a week this year. She is a new to the library but has been a great asset.
The library also has 13 families who have volunteered to cover books for us throughout the year. A BIG thank you to the Boyle, Graham, Norton, McCann, Tran, Hofmeier, Jurd, Whiteside, Carberry, Lutnant, Kane, Lawrence, Hamilton and Quinn families. Between you all you have covered 300 books. Amen to great parents.
Have a very Merry and Happy Christmas with lots of love and plenty of books.
God Bless.

The Summer Barbeque was a great success again this year with a fabulous DJ, terrific dancing, icy poles and amazing sausages. Over $1000 was raised for L'Arche, a great job by everyone. A special thank you to Jo Hamilton, Tammy Willers-Wagstaff, Mr Scroope, Kayla Quinn and Faith Adukan ( tireless volunteers), and of course Kirsty Brogan.
Congratulations to the Daccles family who received their Australian citizenship last week.
For those who are waiting to order items that are out of stock (eg. small hats, blue polos and green jumpers), these will be available on Qkr when they arrive in Week 1, Term 1, 2019. Our suppliers close over the school holidays, which is why we request orders prior to orientation.
The best way to order is using the "Delivery" menu, and have the items delivered to class or the front office. Please do not use the "In Store" menu unless you are standing in the store with a volunteer, otherwise you will not get your order. The menus will be closed over the holidays.
Opening times:
Friday 3.15 to 4pm
07/12/18 Week 8
14/12/18 Week 9 (before the Christmas concert)
21/12/18 Week 10 CLOSED
08/02/19 Week 1 (first week next year)
Many thanks to all of our dedicated volunteers who keep the shop running amidst all of their other commitments. We will be having a small celebration for volunteers in the shop in Week 9.
Merry Christmas and happy holidays from everyone in the uniform shop.

Lower: Mrs Swan ate 2 bananas a day for the month of November? How many bananas did she eat in the month of November?
Middle: The Fred Hollows Foundation can restore the eyesight of a person in an underprivileged country for just $25. If the 3/4 classes raise a total $375 to donate to the foundation. How many people’s eyesight can be restored?
Upper: The students at Holy Trinity have pleaded with Mrs Brearley to create a better play area. In particular, there was a request for a new soccer field. The students thought the field should be 90m long and 45m wide. What are the perimeter and area measurements for this new field?

There was much celebration by the Patterson family as they had been very keen to finally beat the Smyths. There was talk of sabotage prior to the race but there was no need as they won on pure talent.
